Grade 10 Reflection
Time passes by so quickly, I can’t believe that we are almost finished
with grade 10! When we first came to grade 10, things were different from grade
9, so we faced many challenges. For me, the two biggest challenges are K12
online courses and TOEFL class.
K12 was a completely new thing for me because I’ve never studied online before. At first, I was confused about how to use K12. I didn’t know how to submit the assignment or where to find the online books. However, I tried very hard, and spend at least one hour on K12 every day. Soon, I became familiar with the K12 system. The lessons in K12 are not so difficult, but there are lots of contents, and the schedule was tight. By doing K12, I become more responsible. I need to manage my time well to keep up with the schedule. I also learned to study on my own without a teacher helping me all the time.
Another challenge is the TOEFL class. Although I hate TOEFL so much, I still have to do it, because I need this grade to go to colleges in the United States. While trying to improve my TOEFL grade, I have to make sure that I do well in my normal school work in the same time. I spend mostly weekends doing TOEFL, which includes memorizing hundreds of strange vocabularies, writing essays, and reading tons of essays. However, it is impossible to be a superman, so sometimes I will choose to ignore some of the TOEFL works that I think are not useful. I did that because I need to make sure I don’t spend too much time on one subject, and failing behind other classes. Therefore, I think the best way to keep balance between these subjects is to not waste any time, and do the works that are useful. My hard work paid off, and my TOEFL grade improved nearly 40 points within a few months.
Sometimes when I think about my past, I literally cannot read or write in English when I first went to middle school. I even didn’t know how to spell Yes or No. However, now I am able to read English novels and write English essays. I think grade 10 is a huge leap for me, and I have overcome so many challenges.
