Poetry Portfolio
Introduction: I did this writing assignment at the second semester of grade 10. This writing assignment is to create our own poems. The are three type of poems here, they are alliterative day in a life poem, sensory poem, and concrete poem. The purpose of this writing assignment is to help me understand the structure, rhythm, and rhyme of different types of poems.
Reflection: the hardest part of this assignment is to find words that rhyme with others. However, I did well on using my imagination to create interesting poems. If I need to do this assignment again, I will try to improve the vocabulary used in the poems. I think the most important thing I learned in this assignment is to tell a long story in only a few words. Each word should be accurate, expressive, and rhyme with each other.
Alliterative Day in a life poem
I climb clumsily out of bed
And slowly bite my breakfast bread
Then I march under morning sun
I carry my big bag on my back
And up the stairs step by step
Then K twelve tortures me
Having supper with sleepy eyes
Endless work buries me every night
Good morning and go to bed
I climb clumsily out of bed
And slowly bite my breakfast bread
Then I march under morning sun
I carry my big bag on my back
And up the stairs step by step
Then K twelve tortures me
Having supper with sleepy eyes
Endless work buries me every night
Good morning and go to bed
Sensory Poem
Happiness is pink
It tastes like chocolate
And smells like flowers
Happiness looks like colorful balloons
Happiness makes me feel joyful
Happiness is pink
It tastes like chocolate
And smells like flowers
Happiness looks like colorful balloons
Happiness makes me feel joyful
Limerick
There was a young boy from the East
Who once turned into a huge beast
The lonely creature cried
When his fellows died
And who couldn't go to the feast
