This I Believe Essay
Introduction: I did this assignment at the second semester of grade 10. The purpose of this writing assignment is to create our own beliefs about life. We also need to relate our topic with our own lives.
Reflection: I think the hardest part of this assignment is choosing a topic. However, I think the topic I chose was good because it is related to my own life. If I have to do this assignment again, I will try to find a shorter quote from a famous person. By doing this assignment, I learned that although we all live in the same world, people have so many different beliefs and ways of living. It is interesting to learn about other people's thoughts about life.

I believe in the power of curiosity.
In this mysterious universe, we are like curious children who are exploring in a castle, trying to find keys to all secret doors. Curiosity gives people the power of learning and exploring the unknown. The more we learn, the more questions we have, and the more we want to know. This is how human have made their great discoveries to the secrets of nature------ we always ask questions.
Being curious isn’t something that is hard to do; it’s simply a human natural desire to find truth. It exists in everyone, especially in me, a fifteen-year-old girl living in the ancient land of China. I am so fascinated by the mysteries in our universe, and there is always a question mark in my brain. “Where the light goes when we turn off the light?” “What is the origin of the universe?” These questions give me the passion to learn and explore. A few years ago, when I was in 6th grade, we were having an Art class. The assignment teacher assigned us is to paint a flower on the canvas. When I mixed blue and yellow paints together, it turned into green. I thought it was so amazing, just like magic! Then, I lifted my eyes to look around, and I saw bright sunlight coming through the windows. Suddenly, I had a strange question in my mind: what will happen if I mix lights of different colors together? Will they turn into another color like the paints do? I spent the rest of the class thinking about this question, and I couldn’t even focus to finish my project.
As soon as I got home that day, I asked my father to help me find the answer. We took two flashlights that produce white light, and then we covered one with a red silk scarf and the other with a green silk scarf. Going into a dark room, we turned on the flashlights. Two light beams of red and green appeared, and when they both intersect on the white wall, they turned yellow! I was so excited and proud of my new discovery. From this experiment, I discovered the color mixing of light based on my own question about nature.
“The important thing is to never stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity,” said Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists in the 20th century. I believe similar stories like mine have also happened to all scientists around the world because curiosity is the true motivation when people explore the unknown. They enjoy every step that lead towards the answer and will not stop until answer is fully revealed. If not curiosity, Isaac Newton would have never discovered the law of gravity, Magellan would have never circumnavigated the globe, and we would have never sent a man to the moon.
